Mahi River


The Mahi is a river in western India. It rises in Madhya Pradesh and, after flowing through the Vagad region of Rajasthan, enters Gujarat and falls into the sea by a wide estuary near Khambhat. Mahi encircles entire Banswara District in Rajasthan starting from right and ends in left forming boundary of Dungarpur District in Rajasthan.First dam known as Mahi dam is at right side in Rajasthan. The other is on left side near Gujarat Border known as Kadana Dam. Its total length is 500 km. and its estimated drainage area 40,000 km2. It is one of only three major rivers in peninsular India that runs from east to west along with the Tapti River and the Narmada River.
It has given its name to the Mahi Kantha agency of Bombay, and also to the mehwasis, marauding highlanders often mentioned in Arabian chronicles.
The exact position of Mahi River origin is Minda Village, which is situated in sardarpur district Madhaya Pradesh.
